people

sometimes people can make all the difference. Sometimes you can have a really rubbish day, but one small act of kindness on the part of one person can change things entirely. So many times since I've been here, I've felt a bit down or disheartened, but it's often amazing the number of times when suddenly something can change & I can see the bright side- often through people. One occasion was when I was cycling home from school one day. I was feeling a bit blue about something (can't remember what), but then I heard a 'HANNAH, HANNAH'. I turned around and the Kocho Sensei (Head Teacher) and school clerk were waving & smiling at me from the other side of the road, as they were walking to the train station. It just made me laugh.
I went to taiko today & before I went, I felt like there's not much point in carrying on. - I've had the fun experiences there- floors shaking, drums beating & what not, and often don't feel I have anything to say to the people (mainly children) there. But at the end I was speaking to the teacher & there's something about her that just made things seem worthwhile- she's a strict teacher but has a good sense of humour.
Long may people's random comments, questions & surprises make down times into bright ones.
