summertime
I must admit I was a bit puzzled at first when I saw some of my students cycling to school this morning. They were all wearing their summer uniforms, a change from the more formal winter ones. (Now there are no ties of boys or bows for girls, no blazers & a change of trousers/ skirts.)
I tried to think why they'd change mid week during term time. But then it occured to me: today is 1st June, which means summer has technically begun.
Bring on the hot sticky summer- I'm not really looking forward to the next 4 months. Currently the weather's nice and warm, but after the rainy season the unbearable humidity will begin...
[So with the change of the seasons, as of today I've started half riding and half pushing my bike up the hill to school again. Over the past few months I've panted all the up.] Oh and on the subject of riding to school. - I know when I'm running late -contrary to the Japanese trains, which always run on time. If I see a shinkansen -bullet train- pass under me as I head up to school, i know I'm behind schedule!
