Ikebana

I went along to the school flower arranging club the other day. This is what I made:

It's quite funny- have you seen that bit in 'Lost in Translation' when she visits a flower arranging class in Tokyo? Well, there's a certain pattern you have to follow: watch the teacher show you an example of how it's done; follow the scientific diagrams on the board- each flower has to go in a certain order & be tweaked to the correct angle. Then when you're finished, the teacher scrutinises it, rearranging the bits in the wrong place, to make it exactly how the design's intended to be (no artistic freedom here!), takes a photo of your arrangement, and then you're free to disassemble it, take the flowers home wrapped in newspaper and try again in the comfort of your own home - which I have done here.
Not sure how often I will be going back, but it was omoshirokatta - interesting, to say the least...
