notes from a long thin island

Things to read on a rainy day while I write them on a sunny day

the recycle shop man

came around today, followed by the ever helpful Okaasan.
I wasn't expecting high prices from him, but was a bit surprised that selling him my magnificent kotatsu [heated table] would only make me 300yen richer, whereas selling this thing to hang on the wall would bring in 250yen! [About one pound. Oh no, i've just realised that my computer keyboard has either become japanese-ised or Americanised - i can't activiate the pound sign above number 3 now!! rubbish!]
My apartment remains a kind of Pandora's box - with no end of delights and things to find around every corner. Last week I found an apron under the sink (could have come in useful about a year and a half ago). And today, I found a mini bottle of Baileys in the top corner of my kitchen cupboard. It must have been sat there for about 2 years! what else might i find as i chuck and tidy...?
Irish coffee anyone?

I can't believe he only gave you 300Y for the heated table! I would have given you more...I wonder how you could have posted it...
