countdown
it dawned on me, as i got into bed last night, after hours of useless internet trawling, that tomorrow (ie now today) would be my last day to surf the internet and use my landline at home. tomorrow my phone line is being cut - oh no! this was one of the organised things i arranged a few weeks back. I am still yet to phone the gas, water and electricity people to say i'm leaving...
so no more endless facebook/ listening to radio 2 (as i've become accustomed over the past few days, having put most of my CDs in a box to ship home); phoning on skype (which i rarely use anyway) or news/ email checking. No more looking for jobs in vain or reading friends' blogs. Still, I can still check email at school until 27th July. After that, I'll probably be hard to contact, until i return to British soil.
it's still not sinking in. yet laziness at work is definitely at a peak. I have a lesson this afternoon, i've yet to talk to the teacher about in detail. But i know when he's free, so will wait til after lunch. Next period I'm going to try and finish off my self portrait in art class.
I can't understand much of what the art teacher says. At first, when we were practising painting in ink (firstly, copying a picture of Brad Pitt- not bad for a 50min lesson), and then using a mirror and drawing our faces. In the latter, the teacher said i should paint more 'futoi'. I thought that meant fat. I thought he was saying i should draw my face more fat & realistic. I was wondering whether i had a complex and thought myself to have a skinnier face than i actually do. he said this the next lesson as well. oh dear. am i really that podgy?
in the 3rd lesson, afterwards, he finally explained - holding a paint brush. While 'futotteiru' means fat, 'futoi' means broad. He was saying i should use broader brush strokes.
phew!

his advice is very good when i can understand what he's saying!
