moving on
I've been finding that lots of my thoughts lately have been in the style of what I could put on my blog. Funny really, seeing that I've only written on here sporadically lately. If my thoughts do touch my keyboard, then this blog will become what it was not intended to be originally: an online journal - thoughts, feelings, day to day notions exposed to the world at large.
I guess I started this to share funny experiences of life in crazy Japan. Weird, random things that caught my attention. But slowly maybe it's morphed, or in my mind, may soon become something slightly different.
I guess my view of Japan has changed- or likely my position in it has. My initial phase of culture shock (everything is good) seemed to last a surprisingly long time - not withstanding boredom at work maybe if that counts. But after this comes the stage of disenchantment. You see the bad things, get negative, sceptical, realise you don't fit in, want out, or just wants the country you're in to be different and function differently. Probably copious amounts of studies have been done on this, and I've never read any, only heard bits and pieces at JET meetings and OMF recommended reading.
Yet, I'm into the last stage now, surely. The getting ready to go home. Not caring too much about making good impressions/ what others think/ making mistakes etc. Because I'll be gone soon and I need to get ready to go.
So with that in mind, I might as well go back to the start. I never wrote an introduction of who I am or what I do here, why I'm here or how any of this came about.
But this blog serves two purposes- one for you the reader to see what I'm up to (and probably there are only two or three of you out there anyway!!), and secondly for me to store memories and experiences, pictures and thoughts that I might otherwise just forget. Yet, in preparation for getting closure on this journey I've been on in Japan, I might just tie it all up and say all that there is to say- kind of. If i just get on with it. So without further ado, scroll up and see what you might have already known or always wondered.
