moving around

Last week at school was, as noted before, the start of haru yasumi - spring break.
On Thursday, it was all change in the staffroom. A new seating plan was worked out. It's mostly based around the home room (form tutors) and their assistants for each year group, sitting together, with stragglers around and at either end & Kyoto Sensei (vice principal) and a printer in the middle.
This means that most teachers have to move places, as they do every year. Sounds a bit of an upheaval, about 80 people moving desks all at once. But, as all desks are uniform, it just means removing drawers from one desk & slotting them into the new one; dodging other teachers carrying heavy trays/ stacks of books/ underdesk storage shelves. As my desk is one of the few that stays where it is every year, I just helped out several English teachers with their moving desks. Alas, Noriko Sensei, who fed me chocolate, biscuits, lunch on occasion, questions in English, occasional conversation in German & more, is now moving to the opposite end of the staff room. Her desk has been replaced by Saito Sensei (the one who destroyed my first ever lesson, see previous post if you can!) & my 'English island' of 5 teachers around me, has been reduced to 3.
