don't count your chickens...
Ah well, it seems that i was a bit premature in writing the last post (and telling lots of other people too!). The free car is, alas no longer, and is bound for the scrap heap. Tragedy! But I can live with it - that is to say, without a car, which I have been doing thus far. When he found out what exactly was involved in passing on inherited cars, the guy trying to get rid of the car decided to ditch it rather than battle through with the paperwork. Oh well. I shall know for next time not to jump the gun. But I feel pleased that I decided not to go to Izumi to get my Japanese licence yesterday. I'd decided to go next week instead (which I probably won't do now) & later received the e-mail with the bad news. So at least I've saved a couple of hours of annual leave- always useful!
Must get on the case with looking into & booking flights for a trip in March during complete boredom time at school - a whole week plus of no lessons and nothing to do.
Tomorrow, I'm hoping to go to an onsen town with a friend. Could do with a soak (would say long soak but I can only last about 10mins max!) in a hot spring bath.
Enjoy your weekends. Careful in the snow, folks back home - crazy, often when it's snowing in Japan it never snows in England, when there's a scorching summer in one country it's cool on the other side of the world. Over here we're experiencing spring weather. It's great. Still haven't finished my 18l of kerosene, tho I have been keeping warm.

Aaaaaw, shame about the car
Well done on the Japanese test though, that's amazing! Rubbish at speaking indeed - pffft!
Big congratulations
