careful on the rice...

I was looking through some photos I received today, from a school's English camp I attended just before Christmas. Seeing pictures of the students dressing up for their skit contest reminded me one of the plots. This school likes doing twists on traditional fairy tales. So one of the group chose to adapt 'Sleeping Beauty': whilst still a baby, a curse was set on the princess, so that on her 16th birthday, she would choke - on her rice!!

And it also reminded me that Japanese boys seem to really like dressing up as girls. Odd. E.g. at my school festival, there's a competition of the best transvestite - a boy from each class is dressed up, with attention to hair & make up too, and is paraded around the gym, for all students to have a good look and vote which is best.
