one hurdle down

just to let you know i have completed my 10k run! I crossed the Sendai 'marathon' finishing line after 1 hour and 31secs. Was quite happy with that, as my broad goal was an hour and a quarter, or an hour twenty, or an hour and a half (i basically wasn't really aware of how long it'd take!). Anyway, it was quite funny. When I finished, I was slightly disappointed at the lack of freebies- compared to the last race i did, this wasn't as impressive. But in addition to a t-shirt (not quite so nice as the last!) & my name in the programme, I got a free sports drink, a 'zannen' prize in a raffle, getting a packet of tissues, but did get a bowl of hot imoni soup, which i ate outside in the sunshine afterwards, which was nice. The set up for this was pretty big. I came in at no 745, there were lots of runners. The route went from Izumi in the north of Sendai, up into Izumi Park Town, and back again. I happened to be in Izumi Park Town on Fri/ Sat, seeing the Taylors and going to an event at their church, so it was interesting to go back the next day. It was quite nice having traffic stop for you as you were running... no waiting for the green man! But, oh yeah what i was about to say before, it was odd- in the place where the race finished, they were playing an interesting choice of music - "How great Thou art" (O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder...) It was just a music only version, but was quite nice to hear on a Sunday morning when I'd skipped church to go running!
Maybe next I'll try and go for 15k, though that'll be in my own training time. I much prefered this to the 5k in Sept -then the pace was far too fast. Hmm, I enjoyed it today. Bye for now.

crazy lady!! What's with all your crazy running??? I was supposed to do 10k about 2 weeks ago, but I've not been well (oh I am so sick of that excuse now) and neither has Phil, who was supposed to run it with me. However, I am joining a gym (see other comment!), so hopefully I'll get fitter again soon, along with my 2/3 hours of dancing (tap, jazz, ballet) a week :)
