frost and snow

Last week it was incredibly frosty. One day looking out of the bathroom window, I remembered that in Japan on JET, we were advised to spare some vodka and pour a bit down the loo to prevent it from freezing if it got really cold. (One of my friends in the countryside did have the unfortunate experience of her toilet freezing up!) Overnight, it's advisable to leave a tap dripping a bit to keep the water supply going. But if you're going on holiday, you have to turn the water off at the mains, otherwise if a water pipe froze and burst, you could have a big bill on your hands.

This week it's been snowing & i've been skidding and sliding a bit along our ungrit road, as there are no snow tyres here! The view this morning - snow covered hills in Cheltenham reminded me of snowy mountain parts in Japan - I shall try and take some snaps if I get a chance...
