part three- extras!
So in the week we were in HK, for me the best days were a couple of day trips - to MACAU and somewhere else in Hong Kong...
Macau is amazing!! Not sure what/ where it is? Well, to be honest, I didn't really either. But it's an island an hour's ferry crossing away from Kowloon (HK). When we were buying our tickets and boarding the ferry, we felt like we were joining the Chinese on holiday. They were either going (or returning) to other destinations, like mainland China, and Macau.
Macau is great because whereas in HK you often feel like you're in Britain (British English, British things in the shops etc); in Macau it's like you're in Portugal!! Signs are bi-lingual: Chinese and Portguese, and my favourite place had to be the main square.
I properly felt as if I was on holiday here!

It was incredible. Like being back in Europe! I was a proper tourist (if you can call it that), and happily sat in Starbucks, listening to the piped Portuguese music, relaxing in the summer sunshine and reading my book. [The other thing to mention in Macau are the casionos- there are loads of them!] You're probably not interested in European buildings, as most of you readers probably see them every day, but here are some more snaps anyway (remember, this is in ASIA!):
The other place I went to for the 1st time, was Clearwater Bay. My Mamgu & Tadcu used to live around there & I enjoyed the double decker bus journey along Clearwater Bay road, going high up a hill and down again, with great views en route. [Being on the bus reminded me of the 161 to Eltham, that Tom and I sometimes used to catch to go to McDonalds in the summer of year 6 or 7! Esp having the front seat on the top deck.]
The bay itself was good too. It's obviously a place where the locals hang out. Despite being the only foreigners there, the beach announcements were still broadcast in perfect English as well as Cantonese. The beach was lovely and sandy- smaller but I prefered it to Repulse Bay, where we'd gone earlier in the week.
Well that's me over and out. I'd better have dinner, unpack and get ready for school tomorrow :( . Ta-ra for now.

Ha ha, I can assure you that the view we had from the bus in Eltham was nowhere near as good as the one Hannah had in clearwater bay!
